Video-assisted thoracoscopic resection of intralobar pulmonary sequestration in adults

چکیده
Introduction: Intralobar pulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital abnormality that is usually diagnosed in childhood. When diagnosed in adults, patients are usually symptomatic and undergo open thoracotomy and lobectomy. However, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VAts) has become a viable alternative. case series: We present three cases in which adults underwent VAts lobectomy. the resection of the aberrant vessels was aided by the superior visualization of VAts without any additional risk for the patients. All of the procedures were successfully completed without any major morbidity. conclusion: Videoassisted thoracoscopic surgery (VAts) allows for superior visualization, decreased length of stay, decreased pain medication, and less morbidity than thoracotomy, and should be considered for management of adult patients with pulmonary sequestration.

Video-assisted thoracoscopic treatment of intralobar pulmonary sequestration in an obese (120 kg, body mass index 42) young man is described. Two aberrant arteries originating from the descending thoracic aorta were transected with a vascular stapler, and a left lower lobectomy was successfully performed thoracoscopically. Three-dimensional chest computed tomography was used to identify the abe...

Objectives Pulmonary sequestration is a rare developmental abnormality of the lower respiratory system. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of wedge resection compared with lobectomy for the treatment of intralobar pulmonary sequestration. Methods Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) for intralobar pulmonary sequestration was performed in 26 patients in our institute between Decemb...

BACKGROUND Pulmonary sequestration is an uncommon congenital condition for which surgical resection is usually indicated - either via open thoracotomy or conventional multi-port Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS). Of the two types of sequestration, intralobar sequestration is technically more challenging to resect. CASE PRESENTATION We report the management of a 34 year old male pati...
متن کاملVideo-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy in the treatment of intralobar pulmonary sequestration.
Pulmonary sequestration is a congenital malformation characterised by cystic, non-functioning embryonic lung tissue with vascularisation of an abnormal systemic artery. They are classified as intralobar (75%) and extralobar (25%) and are more common in the left lung and lower lobes (60-90%). We report two cases of intralobar pulmonary sequestration located in the lower lobe of the left lung whi...

Bilateral pulmonary sequestration (PS) is a very rare congenital malformation. We describe a case of bilateral intralobar pulmonary sequestration (ILS) in a newborn. Both sequestrations received arterial supply from separate branches of the descending aorta and venous drainage was into ipsilateral inferior pulmonary veins. Prenatal ultrasonography showed cystic changes in the lungs. Computed to...
